Reverence

Definition: Deep respect for someone or something. 

These sessions bring my work full circle… from birth to death. 

The finality of death is a sting you don’t easily forget. I lost my brother when I was only 15.  While it has been many years since his passing, I still miss him in different ways through different seasons of my life. In loosing him I deeply learned and understood that when someone is gone… they are gone, there is no going back. All I have left are my precious memories, and a handful of photos of him in a ziplock bag. 

I experienced death’s sting again when I had a stillbirth at 20 weeks along. It shook me to my core and changed me profoundly. 

When I was 30 my grandfather passed and I was able to get a different glimpse of death, and I will forever be grateful for what he showed me. He gave me such a beautiful example of passing with joy and dignity.  I fondly remember him happily eating a bowl of clam chowder, just hours before he passed, and saying “this should be this in my obituary: ‘the old man went out eating chowder!’”  Then he roared with laughter at his own joke, with a huge grin on his face. It was such a precious gift to everyone left behind to see him fearlessly and joyfully ready to step seamlessly into the next chapter of his experience. 

I have felt the touch of loss and have witnessed timely death, and the gut wrenching unexpected.

My sincere hope is that we create a cherished gallery full of images that you can treasure and pass down as touchstones to eternal love. 

These sessions are 1-2 hours long, I don’t want there to be any sense of rush. We can take photos in the comfort of your own home, outdoors or rent a studio. You will receive a minimum of 70 images that you will be able to download from your online gallery.
