Boutique Children’s Portraits – All You Need To Know

I host my Boutique Children’s Portrait every year! I absolutely LOVE them!! I look forward to them all year! They are just so special and SO much fun to be apart of. I truly love the process of when a child sits in front of my camera a little shy and nervous and within minutes transforms and pure unguarded joy shines through. It’s my favorite!

FAQ about my Boutique Children’s Portraits;

📸 Can we get a sibling picture?

YES! Of course we can!

📸 What should my child wear?

I suggest avoiding wearing neon colors, logos, or black! Black blends in with the background. Warm, earthy or neutral tones look best again the black backdrop.

📸 Is 5 minutes enough time? Even with a sibling portrait?

Yep! I know it seems quick, but the point of these sessions is to get a few really good shots. I don’t need much time to make that happen.

📸 What if my child is shy?

I have learned a few tricks over the years to help children feel safe and comfortable.

My favorite (probably the parent’s least favorite lol) is I have the parent sit down on the ground with their child on their lap facing me and then the parent leans back, it’s a good ab workout 😅.

This way the child feels safe and close and I am able to angle my camera in a way where you can’t see the parent.

📸 Is there an age limit?

Kind of, babies need to be able to sit up by themselves. There is no age out though, I have teenagers come every year!

I keep my process short and simple! I tell a few jokes, make silly faces and silly noises.

I never ask children to smile, and I ask that parents don’t either. This creates pressure and can make the child feel self conscious and not able to relax.

✨My goal is capture the essence of your child ✨

WELCOME

The idea of capturing fleeting, intimate details of the current season of your family’s life is one of my greatest passions. I’d like you to pause right now… and think about what you treasure most about this current season. Is it the way your son looks adoringly at your husband, or the way your daughter’s nose wrinkles when she laughs or maybe the way your baby’s head fits perfectly in the nook of your neck?

We never know what twists and turns life has in store for us, and I wholeheartedly believe preserving each season’s unique details is profoundly important.
